FR Le workshop est une méthode de travail, à la fois prétexte, exception dans le quotidien et forme de gâchis. Un workshop est avant tout caractérisé par un temps de travail collectif, court et concentré. Ces trois ingrédients en font un alibi pour faire ce qu’on ne ferait pas d’habitude. Tout peut alors arriver : l’ambassadeur chinois prend en photo notre œuvre fraîchement installée et, d’un instant à l’autre, on chante du Lio en karaoké. On travaille d’arrache-pied pour que tout soit solide au vernissage puis, dans une danse endiablée, on fracasse sa propre œuvre en passant à travers. Dans les workshops, le glissement entre art et fête peut se faire de manière si fluide qu’on peine à discerner l’un de l’autre.

EN The workshop is a way of approaching work that is both an excuse, an exception to the daily routine, and a form of waste. A workshop is first of all a short, intense and collective working period. The three ingredients offer an alibi for what you wouldn’t normally do. Then, anything could happen: one moment the Chinese ambassador takes a picture of an artwork we just set up, and a minute later we end up singing Lio’s songs in a karaoke. We work relentlessly to be sure everything is solid enough for the opening, and then smash through the lot in a bout of wild dancing. During a workshop, the line between
art and party can be crossed so smoothly you can hardly tell them apart.
